Keep all your baby’s favorite things on hand

Our first tip is to be sure you keep a good amount of your baby’s favorite items around. Whether it’s their favorite toy, blanket, pacifier – you name it – you’d be better off having it rather than not. This is because if they start to get fussy during the session, we are happy to take plenty of breaks to ensure a happy and smiling baby! Also, it will make sure they’re comfortable and have familiar things around them to make this new environment a little more safe.

Nap time is essential

Babies love their sleep and in order to be sure to keep your baby awake during their session, you are definitely going to want them to have a nice, long nap! Be sure to give them enough time to get a full sleep before trying to keep them awake –  and we’re talking like at least a few hours. This will give you time to prepare everything you need for the shoot at the same time.

Feed them beforehand

Make sure you feed your baby before their photoshoot! This tip cannot be stressed enough because babies tend to be hungry very often. We recommend you feed your baby about 30 minutes before their shoot that way you can be sure they won’t need to be burped in the middle of the shoot or potentially start getting fussy.

Be in the pictures with them!

In order to capture this special moment in your family’s life, it’s best to take pictures with your babies. Not only will the pictures come out spectacular, but your baby will thank you for doing so too. Think about it, you want your baby to be happy and smiling, who better than their favorite person to be there with them? Don’t worry, they will still be the focus of the photos, but it will definitely make for a beautiful and impactful moment for you to cherish.

Don’t forget to plan

Planning is an important part of any scheduled event, but especially when it comes to photoshoots with your baby. It’s commonly stated that newborn photoshoots tend to happen when your baby is 5-14 days, yes days, old. Making sure you have everything planned early means you’ll be able to manipulate it later, but if you wait too long and the time runs out you might lose your chance to capture these moments.
